Many people have asked me this question: "Do you think being a cop qualifies you to be a firearms instructor? " I do not. Contrary to this sentiment, which I find is often seen by shooting ranges staffed with retired police or veteran instructors, I find that many veterans and officers learn poor shooting habits and fundamentals. Police are trained to be able to qualify to a minimum required standard by their department. Ambitious officers seek extra training to exceed the standard. Police are not trained to be expert marksmen, but to be proficient. The majority of my firearms proficiency training was learned from training outside any police agency through classes, courses, books, and skill refinement.
If you practice shooting like most people, you'll shoot as well as most people. Bad habits, inefficient movement, and ineffective accuracy without learning much. If you practice shooting like the top 10% of shooters and learn the techniques that are proven to create accuracy, you will shoot like the top 10%. CORRECT habits, EFFICIENT movement, and EFFECTIVE shot placement regardless of time restrictions, stress, or environment. The choice is up to you.
Welcome in!

My name is Jordan Harris.
I am a law enforcement Officer, firearms instructor, self-defense instructor and safety educator in my community.

I educate and train our community members to be knowledgeable about various laws, tactics and training techniques to be readily prepared for violent encounters and to push back against the dangers in our society. I train people to defend themselves, their families and their community with confidence.

Being prepared is not a hobby, it is not just something you read on a poster for motivation. It truly is a way of life. It begins with learning and grows with training. Repetitive and correct training. This is to say it starts mentally and builds itself into the body and very soul of a person. We are called to be ready, and to be disciplined in our time and energy.

Engaging in learning and training will transform your life by allowing you to be confident and ready to face whatever may come. I have seen its reward in my life and in the lives of those who have taken the steps to dedicate themselves to being prepared. As you experience the programs, challenges and trainings found in this community, you will find the same result.

I grew up on a horse ranch with several acres. I cared for animals, explored nature and "patrolled" my section of the woods frequently. I learned how to safely handle and use small pellet rifles, .22 rifles, and later pistols, shotguns and rifles as I got older. My father worked in law enforcement for over 30 years specializing in being a collision reconstructionist, K9 handler, and hostage negotiator among other titles before retiring as a Sergeant. After discovering Rocky Balboa for the first time I took an interest in boxing. At first this obsession started by getting a red pair of boxing gloves for Christmas and, "winning a few title fights" against my father who was fighting on his knees to meet me at my height. Eventually I discovered the importance of learning to grapple and wrestle. Then I put it all together and trained in mixed martial arts. My mother drove me to classes and would worriedly examine me after sparring to see if anything had been permanently rearranged. I graduated Pacific Lutheran University with a degree in business administration. While earning my degree, I played for the football program under the legendary Westering family coaching legacy. Many of the timeless life lessons taught by Scott and Frosty Westering carry over into all corners of life and have places in my training.
After graduating, I attended the police academy and obtained all training requirements through the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission. During my time at the academy, I served as squad leader and assisted in class leadership. I ranked first in the class for the Practical Skills award which is the combination of every graded performance activity, to include defensive tactics and firearms, throughout the entire academy. I received the top range qualification score in my class and was about one inch away from breaking the record at the firearms qualification TWICE. And yes, I am still upset about it. I have since attended various extra trainings related to my patrol functions including advanced interviewing, narcotics manufacturing, interdiction and proactive policing.

After starting in this line of work, I became very aware of the presence of the dangers in our society. I learned about them, trained for them, and engaged them. I was reminded that dangers are real and that they are constantly present. Dangers come in many forms and arrive at any time. They are easy to forget about when they don’t happen to you. I was determined to find a way to find a way to make individuals more prepared as individuals and as a community.

During my time working, I have responded to thousands of calls for service from my community which range from investigating basic thefts to being first on scene to active shootings and rendering first aid. I have been involved in vehicle pursuits, foot chases, K9 tracks, uses of force in hand-to-hand arrests, and pepper ball deployment. I have written many search warrants to be signed by judges, assisted our narcotics task forces, undercover units, and special operations sections. I have assisted our regional SWAT team in training, assisted in teaching defensive tactics for our department and helped mentor our newest officers. I am currently among the top two in patrol seniority at my department. I have over ten years of mixed martial arts training including Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, submission wrestling, Muay-Thai, kick-boxing, Krav Maga, boxing and other similar forms. I continue to train in these disciplines today. I use my personal time to deepen my learning of state law, case law, and relevant legislative updates pertaining to firearms and self-defense. I continue frequently training in firearms proficiency, mixed martial arts, and physical conditioning.
I have personally seen what happens when a would-be victim is prepared and defends the life or property of themselves, a family member, a loved one or even a stranger. Sadly, I have seen what happens to those who never were prepared. Or maybe they would have been prepared when they got around to taking that class or dedicating time to train "tomorrow". This very notion of "tomorrow" has claimed too many victims already. I found myself wishing our community members would dedicate themselves, in whatever capacity, to be prepared. There is no greater deterrent for those who prey on our community than having a knowledgeable, trained, confident and prepared individuals who who looks out for each other. I decided it was time to take action, share my skills and passions and build a community that can protect one another.

Dangers are real in our society. They claim the unprepared daily. They grow by preying on those who just needed a little more time to be ready. They are not going away. Don't be next. I hope that you join our community and when danger comes to you
